Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains how Meddz Electrical & Building Maintenance Ltd, trading as Meddz Electrical, uses personal information when you visit meddzelectrical.co.uk, contact us or enquire about our electrical services.
1. Who is responsible for your information?
Meddz Electrical & Building Maintenance Ltd is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. To ask a privacy question or exercise your rights, call 07388 927983 or use our contact form and tell us that your enquiry relates to privacy.
2. Information we collect
- Enquiries: your name, telephone number, property postcode, email address if you choose to provide it, and the job details or other information you include in your message.
- Providing our services: correspondence and any additional details you give us to prepare a quotation, arrange a visit or carry out work, such as the property address and access arrangements.
- Website use: technical information such as your IP address, browser and device details, pages visited, referring website or advertising campaign, and cookie or similar identifiers. Our hosting and security providers may also process technical logs to deliver and protect the website.
- Advertising enquiries: information about whether an advert led to a successful form enquiry or a telephone call, as explained below.
The contact form marks the details needed to send an enquiry. Your email address is optional. Without enough contact and job information, we may be unable to respond or assess the work. Please only include information relevant to your enquiry.
3. How and why we use your information
We use enquiry and job information to respond to you, discuss your requirements, prepare quotations, arrange appointments and provide the services you request. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, or performing a contract with you. Where you contact us on behalf of a business or another person, we rely on our legitimate interest in handling that enquiry and providing our services.
We also rely on our legitimate interests in managing correspondence, maintaining appropriate business records, protecting the website, preventing misuse and dealing with queries or disputes. Where records must be kept or disclosed to meet a legal requirement, we rely on that legal obligation.
Website measurement and advertising technologies are described in section 4. Where consent is required for these technologies or the associated processing, consent is the relevant basis. Sending us an enquiry does not sign you up to a marketing mailing list.
4. Cookies, analytics and advertising
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Similar technologies can also identify a browser or record an interaction. The website uses Google Tag Manager to load Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads tags.
- Google Analytics 4 helps us understand visits, pages viewed, traffic sources and how the website is used. We also record an event when an enquiry is successfully submitted. Our form tracking does not send the name, telephone number, email address, postcode or message entered in the form to Google Analytics.
- Google Ads helps us measure whether adverts result in enquiries. Successful form submissions can be recorded as conversions. For some visitors, Google may replace the displayed telephone number with a forwarding number that connects to us, allowing calls to be attributed to an advert. Google may process call details, such as the time, duration, connection status and caller information, as well as advertising identifiers.
Google tags may use cookies such as _ga, _ga_* and _gcl_*, depending on the feature, visit and browser settings. Google also receives technical information when these services contact its servers. We have not enabled Google Signals or personalised advertising in our GA4 link to Google Ads.
The website does not currently provide an on-site cookie preference panel. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on on supported browsers and manage your Google advertising choices through My Ad Centre. These tools have their own limits and do not necessarily stop all technical requests or advertising measurement.
Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s Privacy Policy for more information.
5. Who receives your information?
We share information where needed to handle your enquiry, provide our services and operate the website. This includes:
- FormSubmit, which processes contact form submissions and delivers them by email. See FormSubmit’s privacy terms (PDF).
- Our email, website hosting, security and administration providers, including ClickConvert, which supports the website and enquiry handling.
- Google, for the analytics and advertising measurement described above.
- Advisers, authorities or other parties where disclosure is required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Access to enquiry information is limited to those who need it for these purposes. We do not sell the details you provide in an enquiry.
6. International processing
Some service providers, including Google and FormSubmit, may process information outside the UK. The protections that apply depend on the provider, the destination and the service used. Where UK data protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, these must be provided through an applicable adequacy arrangement or appropriate contractual safeguards. Contact us using the details above if you would like information about the arrangements relevant to your enquiry.
7. How long we keep information
We retain enquiry and correspondence records for as long as reasonably needed to respond, follow up and manage any resulting work. When deciding how long to retain a record, we consider whether the enquiry is ongoing, the services provided, any outstanding questions or disputes, and applicable legal, accounting and record-keeping requirements. We delete information when it is no longer needed for those purposes.
Google Analytics user and event data retention is set to 14 months. The retention period for a user’s data can restart when they return. Aggregated reports may remain available for longer, and Google Ads and other providers apply their own retention rules.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis used, you may ask to access your personal information, correct inaccuracies, delete information, restrict its use or receive a portable copy.
You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can also object to the use of your information for direct marketing at any time.
Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Contact us using the details in section 1 to make a request. For browser and Google controls, see section 4. We may need to confirm your identity before providing or changing personal information.
If you are unhappy with how your information is handled, you can contact us and you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the website, our services or the way we handle information changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
